Ryan M. Hicks
Ryan M. Hicks graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2007. During his time at UNLV, Mr. Hicks taught community education classes, worked as a student attorney, and interned for the Honorable Janet J. Berry with the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada, Washoe County located in Reno, NV. The community education classes were held once a week where he taught child support and custody law to members of the local community as a part of UNLV’s community service program. As a student attorney with the Thomas & Mack Immigration Law Clinic, Mr. Hicks represented clients with immigration issues ranging from applying for and obtaining U-Visas to submitting applications for asylum. While interning with Judge Berry, his time was primarily spent working cases in the criminal and construction defected areas of law.
Since joining the Campbell & Coombs team in early 2010, Mr. Hicks’ time has been dedicated primarily to representing individual and small business debtors in cases involving litigation, Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, and tax problem resolution. In one case, Mr. Hicks, working alongside his clients, successfully reduced a $760,000.00 state court fraud judgment down to a $30,000 settlement agreement through the 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel’s voluntary mediation program.
Mr. Hicks, not unlike many in the valley, is not a native Arizonian. He was born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan, a blue collar town just outside of Detroit, to which he credits his understanding of the value of a hard day’s work. Preferring to spend his downtime staying active outdoors, the sunny Southwest was a natural draw. Mr. Hicks now calls Phoenix home, yet remains a true, die-hard Detroit sports fan who continues to give up 16 Sunday afternoons a year to cheer on his Detroit Lions.
